Eli Lilly and Company signed a global licensing agreement with Swedish biotech AlzeCure Pharma. The deal focuses on Alzstatin ACD680, a preclinical program for Alzheimer’s disease.
Lilly will pay $10 million upfront for global rights to the project. Potential development and commercial milestones could exceed $1 billion. AlzeCure remains eligible for tiered royalties on future net sales.
The candidate, ACD680, is a small-molecule gamma-secretase modulator. It is designed to reduce the production of harmful amyloid-beta (Aβ42) protein. This protein forms the plaques found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. The agreement expands Lilly’s portfolio of treatments targeting the neurological disease.
