MoneyGram and Visa launched a new virtual card. Customers can spend the USDC stablecoin wherever Visa is accepted. The initial rollout targets Colombia, a major remittance market. Users manage the card through the MoneyGram mobile app. It integrates with Google Wallet and Apple Wallet for contactless payments.
The initiative uses the Stellar blockchain for settlement. Rain provides card-issuing infrastructure. Crossmint handles wallet technology. Circle's USDC backs the card at launch. MoneyGram plans to integrate its own MGUSD stablecoin later. MoneyGram plans a physical card release in 2026. This version will allow cash withdrawals from ATMs.
