Indian pharmaceutical stocks, including Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, declined on July 22, 2026. This follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a new tariff plan for imported generic drugs.

Generic drugs will remain tariff-free for two years until August 2028. A 100% tariff will take effect after that date, rising to 200% the following year. The policy aims to reshore pharmaceutical production to the United States.

Sun Pharma shares fell 1-2% during the trading session. The US market accounted for over 30% of the company’s revenue in the last fiscal year.
