Samsung Electronics is ceasing sales of televisions and home appliances in mainland China. The company cites fierce competition from domestic brands and a rapidly changing business environment for the withdrawal.

Samsung’s market share in China fell to 3.62% for televisions as of early April. Market share for refrigerators and washing machines dropped below 0.5% during the same period. The TV and home appliance division reported an operating loss of approximately 200 billion won ($138 million) in 2025.

The company is restructuring its Chinese operations to focus on high-value sectors through a strategy of selection and concentration. Samsung will continue to sell smartphones and maintain its semiconductor and medical device businesses in the country.

The home appliance factory in Suzhou will remain operational to serve export markets. Local sales within China will be discontinued entirely.
