Safran terminated exclusive negotiations to acquire defense-tech firm Exail Technologies. The companies ended discussions on July 3. The talks originally began in late June 2026. Both parties failed to reach mutually acceptable terms.

The proposed transaction valued Exail at €128.5 per share. Safran intended to buy the Gorgé family's controlling stake followed by a public offer for the remaining shares.

Valuation and financing hurdles stalled the deal despite high demand in the defense sector. The collapse removes the takeover reference price for Exail stock. Investors must now evaluate Exail based on standalone performance and execution risks.
