Safran and India’s Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) await final approval for a landmark joint venture. India’s Cabinet Committee on Security expects to clear the partnership by August 15, 2026.

The venture will co-develop a new engine for the AMCA Mk2 advanced combat aircraft. Safran committed to a 100% transfer of technology for the project.

The agreement includes sensitive manufacturing techniques for single-crystal turbine blades. This deal supports India’s strategic push for self-reliance in military aviation technology.
