Novo Nordisk launched Awiqli (insulin icodec-abae) nationwide in the United States. This product is the first once-weekly basal insulin available for adults with type 2 diabetes.
The treatment received FDA approval earlier this year and is now available in retail pharmacies. Awiqli is designed to improve glycemic control. The medication reduces the frequency of basal insulin injections from seven to one per week.
Novo Nordisk introduced affordability programs for eligible patients. These programs can reduce the monthly cost of the medication to $35.
