Novo Nordisk said its experimental obesity drug CagriSema was associated with an average 25% weight loss in women. The finding comes from a post-hoc analysis of the late-stage REDEFINE 1 trial, presented at The Menopause Society 2026 Annual Meeting.
The analysis included more than 2,300 women. At 68 weeks, women taking CagriSema had an average weight loss of 25%. Women taking placebo lost 3% on average.
A second analysis found weight loss across all stages of menopause. Premenopausal women had an average reduction of 26.7%. Perimenopausal women had an average reduction of 24.8%. Postmenopausal women had an average reduction of 23.1%.
CagriSema combines semaglutide, the active ingredient in Wegovy, with cagrilintide. The drug is awaiting a regulatory decision from the U.S. FDA, expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
