Everspin Technologies announced Astro Digital selected its 64Mb STT-MRAM. The memory will be used in an upcoming Raven bus geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO) satellite mission. It will function as the primary fail-safe memory for the satellite's system boot process. The chip stores essential code to initialize spacecraft electronics and support system recovery.

The selection demonstrates the MRAM's suitability for critical space applications. The technology features radiation tolerance, high endurance, and fast read-and-write speeds. These attributes are crucial for reliable operation during long-duration missions. They enable performance in demanding orbital environments. The non-volatile memory retains critical boot information without power. It provides rapid access during startup or recovery procedures.
