The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a final environmental impact statement for Cheniere’s proposed Sabine Pass Stage 5 Expansion Project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
The project includes three new liquefaction trains. It is expected to increase the terminal’s natural gas export capacity by 950 billion cubic feet per year.
The expansion also includes a new 55.6-mile pipeline and a new compressor station.
Increased operating capacity would raise LNG carrier traffic in the Gulf of America and Sabine Pass Ship Channel by up to 160 vessels annually.
The regulatory milestone moves the project closer to a final investment decision.
