Value investor Prem Watsa's Fairfax Financial Holdings significantly increased its investment in Kraft Heinz (KHC) during the second quarter of 2026. According to an SEC 13F filing released on August 14, Fairfax raised its stake by 171.56%, growing its holdings from 5.27 million to 14.31 million shares. It is important to note that 13F filings disclose positions held at the end of a quarter, meaning these trades were executed between April and June 2026.

The purchase increased the value of Fairfax's position to $337.6 million as of the filing date, making the food and beverage giant its third-largest public equity holding at 12.8% of the portfolio. The move comes as Kraft Heinz updated its 2026 outlook, raising its organic net sales guidance while also noting pressure on profits due to increased brand investment and a multi-billion dollar impairment charge. Fairfax has not publicly commented on its specific motive for the increased investment.
