Eli Lilly agreed to acquire Curevo, LimmaTech Biologics, and Vaccine Company for a potential $3.83 billion. The company is using significant cash flow from its successful diabetes and obesity drugs to fund the expansion. This move establishes a strategic presence in the infectious disease and vaccine markets.

The $1.5 billion acquisition of Curevo is the largest of the three deals. It focuses on amezosvatein, a Phase 3-ready shingles vaccine candidate designed to offer improved tolerability over the current market leader. The remaining acquisitions add programs targeting bacterial infections and the Epstein-Barr virus.

The strategy allows Eli Lilly to diversify beyond its core therapeutic areas. Eli Lilly’s stock price rose slightly in trading following the announcement. These deals aim to secure future growth drivers using profits from the company's blockbuster drug portfolio.
