Gartner, Inc. unveiled its top strategic predictions for 2027 and beyond, highlighting the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and automation. The predictions span the rise of physical AI systems, disposable applications and a shift in AI governance from regulators to insurers.

By 2030, physical AI systems such as robots and drones will assist 80% of front-line workers at international companies, Gartner predicts.

The firm expects AI’s growth to create new challenges in cybersecurity and cost management. By 2029, 60% of organizations using AI will establish a dedicated function to map AI’s total cost to its value or profit, Gartner says.

By 2030, insurers will become the primary drivers of AI governance by setting strict underwriting standards for AI liability insurance, Gartner predicts. The firm also expects more than 40% of organizations to face a security incident involving unauthorized AI tools by 2030.
