Alphabet’s Google plans to release its Gemini 3.8 Flash artificial intelligence model as early as this week. The launch targets improvements in AI coding, an area where the company has trailed competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic.
Internal tests for the model, known as Skimaki, indicate Google engineers prefer it over Anthropic’s Claude Opus for coding tasks. The Flash series utilizes a smaller and faster architecture to enable more efficient iteration and deployment.
