Google and Telstra announced a major partnership to expand digital connectivity across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. The collaboration strengthens infrastructure to meet rising demand for AI and cloud services.
The agreement integrates Telstra’s terrestrial fiber with Google’s subsea cable systems. Google gains dark fiber capacity on Telstra’s high-capacity Aura Network.
Telstra receives fiber pairs on Google’s Pacific Connect and Australia Connect subsea initiatives. These systems, including Tabua, Proa, and Bulikula, link Australia to the United States, Japan, and the Pacific Islands.
This land-and-sea integration creates resilient data routes with low latency for advanced AI applications. The deal positions Australia as a regional connectivity hub for an AI-driven economy.
