Anthropic plans to sell up to ¥552.9 billion ($3.5 billion) in shares to Japanese investors as part of its upcoming U.S. initial public offering, according to a regulatory filing. The proceeds from the international tranche are designated for working capital, operating expenses and capital expenditures.
The planned sale highlights growing interest among Japanese investors in major global tech listings. The filing did not disclose the total size of the IPO or its target valuation. Some investors have reportedly discussed a valuation of around $1.5 trillion.
The Japanese offering is part of a broader global strategy that includes offerings in Australia, Canada and parts of Europe.
