Alphabet’s Google and Intel launched a multiyear collaboration to develop next-generation AI and cloud infrastructure. The partnership optimizes Intel Xeon processors for Google Cloud and co-develops custom ASIC-based infrastructure processing units (IPUs).

The joint effort aims to enhance performance and efficiency across Google’s global data centers. By offloading networking, storage, and security functions from host CPUs, the companies intend to maximize system utilization and lower total cost of ownership.

Google Cloud has begun deploying the latest Intel Xeon 6 processors. These processors currently support customer workloads within Google’s C4 and N4 instances.
