Ghana started processing locally produced Jubilee crude oil at the Sentuo Oil Refinery in Tema. This initiative aims to achieve energy self-sufficiency and reduce the nation's reliance on imported refined products.
The strategy adds value to natural resources to stimulate broader economic growth. Major oil marketing companies like GOIL expect the move to reshape the domestic petroleum supply landscape.
This development aligns with government plans to transform Ghana into a petroleum hub for West Africa. Additionally, the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) received crude oil in May and resumed refining operations in June.
