Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA) raised petrol and diesel prices effective September 1, 2026.
The price floor for petrol increased by approximately 4.38%.
Diesel prices rose by 2.69% under the new directive.
This mandate affects all oil marketing companies (OMCs), including the state-owned Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL).
Rising international prices for refined petroleum products drove the adjustment.
The price hike occurred despite recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.
The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC) and the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) previously projected these increases.
Higher fuel costs will likely impact national transportation expenses and household budgets.
