GE Aerospace and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) reportedly reached an agreement on key technical aspects for F414 jet engine co-production. This milestone advances a long-discussed partnership to manufacture engines within India. The engines will power India's future combat aircraft, expanding a 40-year relationship between the two companies.
GE Aerospace also contracted with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to establish a domestic depot for F404-IN20 engines. This facility will service the engines powering India's Tejas light combat aircraft. Domestic maintenance will eliminate overseas repair requirements to improve fleet availability and turnaround times.
