Enbridge has begun construction on its C$4 billion Sunrise Expansion in British Columbia, a major addition to its natural gas transmission system. [1, 3, 4]

The project received federal approval in April 2026. [1, 3, 7] It will add about 140 kilometers (87 miles) of pipeline. [1, 3, 7] The expansion will increase transportation capacity by 300 million cubic feet per day. [1, 3, 7]

The project is designed to meet the province’s growing energy needs and supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities. [3, 4, 11] Enbridge says progress on major growth projects such as Sunrise supports its financial guidance and long-term track record of dividend growth. [2, 19] The company announced its 31st consecutive annual dividend increase for 2026. [2, 19]

The project is expected to be operational by late 2028. [7, 9]
