BYD is restructuring its research and development division following a 20% decline in sales. The company will decentralize its Automotive Engineering Research Institute into five autonomous centers.

These units will serve the Dynasty, Ocean, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang brands. Each brand gains direct control over product definition and vehicle planning to improve market responsiveness. Central engineering personnel will transfer to these dedicated brand teams.

Most new divisions will operate under an independent profit-and-loss accounting system. This structure holds individual brands accountable for financial performance and aims to reduce product overlap. The ultra-luxury Yangwang brand remains temporarily exempt from near-term profitability targets.
