BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li announced the company is advancing independent research and development of humanoid robots. Robotics will become a primary focus as the firm expands beyond its core new energy vehicle business.

Initial applications for these robots will target BYD’s global 4S stores. The units will manage sales guidance and customer reception services.

BYD will leverage its existing expertise in complex software and precision hardware manufacturing. Li noted that automotive technology is directly transferable to robotics, reducing technical barriers.

The long-term strategy involves introducing humanoid robots into private households. Planned capabilities include cleaning, cooking, and companionship to create an intelligent service ecosystem.
