Berkshire Hathaway accumulated a $41 billion stake in Google parent Alphabet, making it one of the conglomerate's largest equity holdings.
The investment marks a strategic shift toward the technology sector under the leadership of CEO Greg Abel. Berkshire built the position progressively starting in the third quarter of 2025 and expanded it through 2026.
A $10 billion private placement in June 2026 anchored the position. This capital supported Alphabet’s $80 billion equity raise to fund artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The Alphabet stake now surpasses Berkshire’s iconic Coca-Cola holding in value. The firm now positions the investment as a potential new forever stock for the conglomerate.
