BMW Recalls 318,495 U.S. Vehicles, Citing Engine Starter Fire Risks

BMW is recalling 318,495 vehicles in the United States.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that starter motors may overheat and ignite.

This move expands previous recalls for similar issues involving smaller batches earlier in 2026.

Affected models include the 3 Series, 4 Series, X3, and X4.

Dealers will replace the faulty components at no charge to owners.
