BMW debuted a long-wheelbase version of its Neue Klasse i3 at the Chengdu Auto Show. The model utilizes BMW’s new 800V electric vehicle architecture and is tailored for Chinese consumer preferences. Production for the China-exclusive sedan is scheduled for the company's Shenyang facility.
BMW also opened pre-sales for the new long-wheelbase iX3 on the Neue Klasse platform. Pricing for the iX3 starts at 269,900 yuan, which is approximately 39,700 USD. These moves target increased competition from domestic and international rivals in the Chinese market.
The company confirmed it will discontinue the flagship 8 Series. BMW may transition its grand tourer formula to the newly acquired ALPINA sub-brand.
