BMW is recalling more than 29,000 vehicles in the United States.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified a fire risk stemming from corroded engine starter relays. This corrosion can lead to overheating and electrical short circuits.
The safety recall covers specific 2016 through 2020 models. Affected vehicles include the 330e, 530e, and 740Le series.
BMW of North America advises owners to park affected vehicles outside and away from structures until repairs are complete. Dealers will replace the engine starters free of charge.
