Amazon.com Inc. plans to manage 90% of its U.S. package deliveries through its in-house logistics network by 2029. The company established an interim goal of handling 86.3% of deliveries by 2027. It expects to reach an 88.7% internal delivery rate by 2029. This initiative reduces reliance on third-party carriers like UPS and FedEx. The strategy aims to improve delivery speed and cost-effectiveness.
Amazon Shipping also announced holiday season surcharges effective from October 25, 2026, to January 16, 2027. These fees exceed last year's rates. Surcharges will reach their highest levels between November 22 and December 26. The company stated these fees are necessary to maintain service capacity during peak periods.
