Airbus secured an order from Philippine Airlines (PAL) for nine A350-1000 widebody aircraft. The agreement includes purchase rights for an additional five jets.
Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the deal doubles PAL's total commitment for the A350-1000 to 18 aircraft. The new fleet will serve as PAL's long-haul flagship for non-stop routes from Manila to the U.S. and Canada East Coasts.
PAL cited fuel efficiency, range, and passenger comfort as primary drivers for the selection. This follows a separate order for Boeing 787 Dreamliners placed earlier at the event.
