Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) is evaluating a bid for a controlling stake in Associated British Ports (ABP). The potential transaction is valued at nearly $10 billion.
The deal would grant APSEZ control over 21 ports across the United Kingdom. This move signals a major expansion into the European maritime sector. APSEZ currently maintains operations in Israel, Sri Lanka, and Australia.
The acquisition involves purchasing a 63.9% stake from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System. The transaction seeks to create synergies with Adani’s existing logistics and clean energy businesses.
