Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) launched a dedicated empty container yard at Mundra Port on Friday. The facility integrates warehousing with end-to-end services for container storage, maintenance, and inspection.
Mundra Port currently manages 35% of India’s total container trade. The port handles approximately 1.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of empty containers every year. APSEZ aims to expand its container handling capacity by 6 million TEUs. The company plans to reach this target within the next five years.
The development coincides with a strike by the Kandla Mundra Container Transport Welfare Association over new handling protocols. Adani Ports shares increased by 1.25% during morning trading following the announcement.
