Hapag-Lloyd and Israeli private equity firm FIMI have submitted a revised $4.2 billion offer for ZIM Integrated Shipping Services. The proposal maintains the acquisition price at $35 per share.
The updated terms aim to resolve Israeli government concerns regarding national security and supply chain independence. The bid includes the creation of ZIM Israel, a locally owned and managed entity.
This new company would operate independent routes to the Far East, Atlantic, and Mediterranean. The proposal also strengthens the Israeli government's golden share to increase state control and prevent foreign interference.
