ExxonMobil reached a Final Investment Decision for the $1 billion Usan Infill Project in Nigeria’s Oil Mining Lease 138. The project will add approximately 40,000 barrels of oil per day to national production capacity. Operations will utilize the existing Usan Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility to minimize costs and timelines.
This initiative represents ExxonMobil’s first new drilling campaign in Nigeria since 2016. Jagir Baxi, Chairman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil’s Nigerian affiliates, announced the move at NOG Energy Week in Abuja. The company expects first oil from the project within 18 months.
