Amazon.com Inc. is in advanced negotiations to acquire satellite operator Globalstar Inc. Reports indicate a potential transaction announcement could occur as early as April 14, 2026. The deal would accelerate the development of Amazon Leo, the company's proprietary satellite internet network. This expansion targets direct competition with Elon Musk's SpaceX Starlink service.
Globalstar currently holds a market capitalization of approximately $9.4 billion. Its share price surged nearly fourfold over the past year. The acquisition would grant Amazon immediate access to an established satellite fleet and valuable spectrum rights.
Appleās 20% stake in Globalstar adds complexity to the negotiations. Apple currently utilizes the network for its iPhone emergency services feature. While talks are advanced, the parties have not yet reached a final agreement.
