Amazon.com Inc. is in advanced negotiations to acquire satellite operator Globalstar. An official announcement could arrive as early as April 14, 2026.
The acquisition would accelerate Amazon Leo, a satellite internet project designed to compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink. This move intensifies competition in the satellite broadband market as an alternative to ground-based internet.
Globalstar currently holds a market value of approximately $9.4 billion following a year-long share surge. The deal provides Amazon with an operational network to meet deployment deadlines for its own satellite constellation.
Apple’s existing stake and partnership with Globalstar necessitates direct negotiations between Amazon and Apple. Negotiations remain ongoing, and the parties have not yet reached a final agreement.
