South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace secured a €546 million follow-on contract with the Finnish Ministry of Defence. The parties signed the agreement in Helsinki. The contract includes 112 K9 Self-Propelled Howitzers and spare parts. Deliveries will begin in 2028.
Finland joins Türkiye and Poland as the third NATO member to operate the system. This order increases Finland’s total K9 fleet to more than 200 units. The deal underscores growing defense cooperation between Hanwha and Northern European nations.
Finland has operated the K9 platform for several years in demanding conditions. Hanwha's CEO stated the decision reflects trust in the company as a partner for European defense.
