General Tool Company (GTC) is expanding its Cincinnati manufacturing facility to increase production of Rolls-Royce AG9160RF gas turbine generator sets. These units power the U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke Class (DDG 51) destroyers.
The expansion allows GTC to increase production capacity from two to three ships annually. This growth directly strengthens the naval industrial base and supports critical fleet modernization.
These generator sets provide the high-output power required for Flight III destroyers and advanced SPY-6 radar systems. The project underscores a long-standing manufacturing partnership between GTC and Rolls-Royce.
The increased output secures the supply chain for major shipbuilders General Dynamics Bath Iron Works and Huntington Ingalls Industries. This expansion serves as a key indicator for investors monitoring the health of the defense sector and aerospace ETFs.
