Broadcom secured a multi-year agreement to develop and supply future generations of Google's custom Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). These specialized chips power Google's AI workloads and serve as alternatives to general-purpose GPUs.

Broadcom and Google also expanded their collaboration with AI leader Anthropic. Starting in 2027, Anthropic will gain access to significant AI compute capacity powered by these custom Google TPUs. This infrastructure will support the scaling of Anthropic’s Claude AI models amid soaring demand and intense competition.

The partnership highlights a shift toward vertical integration as tech giants seek to control hardware and optimize performance. Broadcom has emerged as a primary enabler for hyperscalers developing custom silicon to challenge NVIDIA’s market dominance.
