United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and SILITH Technology delivered the first mass-production photonic integrated circuits from UMC's 12-inch Singapore fab. This milestone transitions their silicon photonics platform from development to high-volume manufacturing.
The partnership achieved production readiness for SILITH's 1.6T silicon photonics platform in 18 months. A major cloud infrastructure customer has already qualified the platform for deployment in AI networks.
The collaboration addresses surging demand for high-speed optical interconnects in hyperscale data centers. Both companies are now extending their partnership to support next-generation 400G/lane optical solutions as the industry shifts away from copper interconnects.
