Uber Technologies will launch a robotaxi service in Houston by mid-2027. The initiative partners Uber with autonomous driving firm Nuro and electric vehicle maker Lucid Group. Houston is the second planned market for the service following a San Francisco Bay Area rollout later this year.

The service will operate exclusively through the Uber app. It will initially feature Lucid Gravity electric SUVs equipped with Nuro’s self-driving technology.

Uber secured a 50,000-square-foot depot and charging facility in Houston to support the launch. Nuro is currently conducting on-road testing with safety operators in the city. The engineering fleet includes nearly 100 vehicles across Texas and California. The companies plan to expand autonomous ride-hailing to dozens of markets in the coming years.
