AppLovin has sued Unity Software in the Superior Court of California, seeking a temporary restraining order to stop data collection by Unity’s Ad Quality software.
The complaint alleges that the tool collects sensitive business data from publishers using AppLovin’s MAX ad marketplace, including impression revenue and mediation waterfall information. AppLovin claims Unity uses the data to train its own models, allowing it to compete using a rival’s performance data.
Unity has rejected the allegations, calling the lawsuit anti-competitive. It says it offered to remotely disable the feature for AppLovin’s auctions, but AppLovin declined. The case is proceeding alongside planned arbitration between the companies.
