TSMC CEO C.C. Wei expects global chip supply to lag behind AI-driven demand for several years. Wei shared the outlook during the company’s annual shareholder meeting, noting that current capacity expansions remain insufficient.
The production bottleneck impacts the entire semiconductor supply chain, including major clients like Nvidia and AMD. Even with new fabrication plants under construction in the U.S., production will not satisfy total customer orders.
TSMC maintains a sales growth forecast of more than 30% for the current year. The company intends to avoid abrupt price hikes to maintain market stability. Wei acknowledged a desire to raise prices despite these stability efforts.
