TSMC completed development and verification of its A16 1.6-nanometer process. This architecture features the industry’s first super power rail for backside power delivery. Mass production will begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The A16 process increases performance by 8% to 10% at the same power level compared to the N2P process. Alternatively, it reduces power consumption by 15% to 20% at identical speeds.

This technology targets future high-performance computing and artificial intelligence chips. The advancement serves as a foundational step toward the company's upcoming 1.4-nanometer A14 process.
