Transelectrica has implemented preventive measures to secure Romania’s National Power System during a Code Red heatwave from June 29 to July 1, 2026. The announcement follows an Energy Command meeting initiated by the Ministry of Energy.
The operator canceled all scheduled infrastructure maintenance to ensure maximum transport capacity. This measure reduces technical risks associated with extreme temperatures.
The National Energy Dispatcher forecasts peak electricity consumption will reach approximately 8,000 MW during this period. Transelectrica has prepared gradual operational measures to maintain the balance between production and consumption.
Monitoring and intervention capabilities for the transport network have been reinforced. These steps aim to maintain operational safety throughout the extreme weather event.
