Tencent is negotiating the acquisition of Israeli game developer SuperPlay from its parent company, Playtika. The potential deal values the studio between $1 billion and $1.5 billion. Playtika originally acquired SuperPlay less than two years ago.

SuperPlay’s rapid success created a significant financial burden for Playtika through performance-based earnouts. The developer’s 2025 revenue significantly exceeded the targets used to calculate founder payments.

Selling to Tencent would transfer these substantial earnout obligations to the Chinese conglomerate. The transaction would effectively remove the debt from Playtika’s balance sheet.
