Victor Dodig officially assumed the role of President and CEO of TELUS Corporation on July 1, 2026. He succeeds Darren Entwistle, who retired after leading the telecommunications company for 26 years. This transition follows a planned succession strategy first announced on February 12, 2026.
Dodig previously served as the CEO of CIBC for over a decade. He joined the TELUS board of directors in 2022 and became CEO Designate on May 1, 2026, to facilitate the leadership handover.
Investors are now monitoring Dodig’s strategic direction regarding the company’s high dividend yield. Some analysts suggest a dividend adjustment may be necessary to strengthen the corporate balance sheet.
Entwistle will serve as an advisor to Dodig until April 2027 to support the transition. Concurrently, Gopi Chande has taken over as the new Chief Financial Officer.
