SpaceX is reportedly discussing access to at least 80,000 cell sites across the United States as it considers launching its own wireless service. The company is negotiating with at least one major cellular infrastructure firm to build a ground-based network that would complement its Starlink satellite constellation.

The hybrid network would combine cell towers and satellites to provide mobile connectivity, especially in urban areas and indoors where buildings can obstruct satellite signals.

Recent spectrum acquisitions and regulatory approvals have positioned SpaceX to potentially become a fourth national wireless competitor in the United States, alongside AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.
