Samsung Electronics is establishing a Core Team within its Semiconductor Research Center as part of an overhaul of its semiconductor research and development division. The team will focus on next-generation technologies and foundational processes for the company’s memory and foundry businesses, aiming to strengthen its position in the future semiconductor market.

The move is part of a broader effort to restore Samsung’s technological competitiveness, particularly in advanced DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), after the company acknowledged that its performance fell short of market expectations.

Samsung Electronics shares rose 5.67% in South Korea on October 21, 2026.
