Samsung Electronics plans record 2026 capital expenditure of 84.4 trillion won (about $63.2 billion). That is a 60% increase year over year.
The company will allocate 76.8 trillion won to its semiconductor division. The spending increase is driven by demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, which are used in artificial intelligence applications.
Samsung said its entire HBM supply for 2027 is sold out. It has secured long-term agreements with 10 major customers and is negotiating with 10 more.
The company aims to have 60% to 70% of its total production capacity covered by long-term contracts by 2030. The announcement came alongside record third-quarter operating profits, while net profit fell short of analyst estimates.
