S&P Global has completed its acquisition of OpenZeppelin, a blockchain security firm known for smart contract audits and widely used open-source code libraries. The deal was first announced on September 17, 2026, and aims to strengthen S&P Global’s ability to assess technology-related risks in digital asset markets.
OpenZeppelin has conducted more than 900 security engagements. Its contracts have underpinned trillions of dollars in transferred value. The acquisition adds specialized blockchain expertise as traditional finance increasingly explores tokenized assets.
The companies did not disclose the financial terms. S&P Global said the transaction is not expected to have a material impact on its financial results.
OpenZeppelin will continue to operate as a separate business unit under its own name. Founder Demian Brener will remain its leader.
